Carl Crawford

After leading the South Atlantic League in hits and stolen bases in 2000, Crawford went out to blossom in the Devil Rays' organization, batting nearly .300 and ranking among league stolen base leaders each season in the minors. He has great speed, quick wrists and a strong mental approach at the plate. Moreover, with his superior work ethic, Crawford was a lock to make the big club in Tampa Bay. He did well, batting .259 with six triples in 63 games in 2002. Notably, clutch situations were not out of the realm of possible success for Crawford, as he went 22-for-67 (a .328 average and .522 slugging percentage) with runners in scoring position. He will look fine in the Devil Rays' outfield in 2003.
